Fixed price vs auction: five real scenarios

Dealzmart lets you pick marketplace mode (fixed price) or auction mode (timed bids) per listing. You do not need two apps — same photos, chat, and checkout path.

Scenario 1: Everyday furniture

Fixed price. Buyers compare quickly; an auction adds friction for a bulky sofa.

Scenario 2: Collectible cards or limited sneakers

Auction can work when you expect competition and a clear end time.

Scenario 3: Phone in good condition

Either works. Fixed price if you know the market; auction if you want bids to find the ceiling.

Scenario 4: “Must sell this week”

Fixed price slightly under comparables often beats a long auction nobody notices.

Scenario 5: Uncertain value

Start with research, then auction with a sensible reserve if the category supports it — or fixed price and adjust.

Common questions

Can I switch mode after publishing?

Create a new listing if you need a different format. Do not mislead buyers who already bid or offered.
